GREEK CHAMBER MUSIC: A MODERN POINT OF VIEW
ONASSIS CULTURAL CENTRE
–UPPER STAGE (107-109, Syngrou Ave.)
For the second year, the Onassis Scholars’ Association organises the “Consonances” artistic institution, this time featuring works of modern Greek chamber music.
In this year’s event -and following the outstandingly successful December 2014 presentation of operas and other works at the Onassis Cultural Centre-, Onassis Foundation Scholars will perform works by Greek composers who have “laid the foundation” of Greek art and have erected its various structures.
Through the sheer beauty and uniqueness of chamber music, this exceptionally personal form of creation and expression, 9 performers will meet and give us the tone of “today” using the works of 14 composers, based on the masterful texts of Greek and foreign poets, which will take shape and come to life through voice, piano and the wind instruments specially selected for this event.
Using elements indicative of Hellenicity, combined with modern looks and traditional styles of classical music, the composers seal their own personal ways of creation and expression. A performance that aims at showcasing Greek music; keeping in touch with modern happenings; and producing a guide to further creation.
